These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Blik marketplace at bliknow.com and the Blik iOS application (the “Service”), operated by SoftCode Design Inc. (“Blik,” “we”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Providers also agree to the Provider Agreement.
Terms of Service
Last updated: September 10, 2026
1. What Blik is
Blik is a technology platform that connects customers with independent third-party service providers (cleaning, painting, car detailing, moving, and other home services). Blik is not the provider of those services. Each provider is an independent contractor solely responsible for the quality, safety, and timing of the services they deliver.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
3. Providers
Providers apply through the website or in-app onboarding flow and must accept the Provider Agreement, which sets out the full terms of the relationship. Blik may, at its discretion, approve, suspend, or revoke a provider’s ability to receive bookings. Approval does not constitute a recommendation, endorsement, or warranty of the provider’s services.
Before going live, and to stay listed, every provider must:
- Carry liability insurance. A valid certificate of commercial general liability insurance (at least $2,000,000 per occurrence) with its expiry date must be on file with Blik and approved. Providers who joined before September 10, 2026 must comply by October 1, 2026. An expired certificate removes the provider from the marketplace until it is renewed.
- Provide tax information. Blik is a digital platform operator under Part XX of the Income Tax Act and must report provider earnings to the Canada Revenue Agency. Providers must give their legal name, address, date of birth, SIN or business number, and HST status before approval.
- Verify identity and attest to licences. Providers submit government-issued ID for review and attest that they hold any licence or certification the law requires for the services they offer. Work in compulsory trades that require a Certificate of Qualification is not offered on Blik.
Providers represent that they have the skills, licences, insurance, and legal right to provide the services they offer and that they will comply with all applicable laws.
4. Bookings and payments
When you book a service, you authorise Blik (via Stripe) to charge your payment method for the listed service price. Stripe places an authorisation hold on your card at that point; your card is only charged when a provider accepts your request. If no provider accepts, the hold is released and you are not charged. Blik then holds the payment and releases the provider’s payout after you confirm the work in the app, or automatically 72 hours after the provider marks the job complete if you have not responded. If something is wrong, report it in the app before the payout is released and Blik will review it.
Service fees. Prices shown in the app are the full price you pay. Blik’s service fee (currently 15% of the booking price) is deducted from the provider’s payout and is shown to providers on every job before they accept.
5. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel a booking before a provider accepts it at no cost — the authorisation hold is released and nothing is charged. Blik does not currently charge a cancellation fee after acceptance either, but please cancel as early as you can so the provider is not left without work; a cancellation after your card has been charged is refunded through Stripe. Refunds for issues with a completed service are reviewed case-by-case — request one in the app or email support@theblik.ca within 14 days of the service, and we will reply with a decision.
6. Customer and provider conduct
You agree not to use the Service to harass, threaten, defraud, or discriminate against any other user. You will not post unlawful, infringing, or misleading content, and you will not arrange or pay for a Blik-originated job outside the platform while the booking is open. Blik may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
7. Disputes between users
If a dispute arises between a customer and a provider (e.g., quality, damage, missed appointments), the parties should attempt to resolve it directly. Blik may, but is not obligated to, mediate, and may withhold a disputed payout while it reviews the booking. Blik is not a party to any service contract formed through the platform and is not an insurer.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Blik disclaims all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Blik does not warrant the conduct, performance, qualifications, or workmanship of any provider.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Blik’s aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the platform fees you have paid to Blik in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) CAD $100. Blik is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Blik harmless from any claim, loss, or expense arising from your use of the Service, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law.
11. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it in-app (Account → Delete account). Blik may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms or for any other reason at its discretion. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) will survive.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Ontario will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you another forum.
13. Acceptance
You accept these Terms electronically — by ticking the agreement box when you create an account, by tapping “Agree” in the app, or by continuing to use the Service after being shown an updated version. Each acceptance is recorded with the document version (this version is 2026-09-10), the date and time, the surface you accepted on, and your IP address and device type. You can request a copy of your acceptance record at any time by emailing hello@softcodedesign.com.
14. Changes
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or via email at least 14 days before they take effect, and you may be asked to accept the new version before your next booking or payout. Continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance.
