Provider Agreement

Last updated: September 10, 2026

This Provider Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you, an independent service provider (“you,” “Provider,” or “Bliker”), and SoftCode Design Inc., operating as Blik (“Blik,” “we”). It applies whenever you apply to, are listed on, or accept jobs through the Blik marketplace at bliknow.com and the Blik iOS app. It works together with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; if this Agreement and the Terms conflict on a provider matter, this Agreement wins. It is written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, ask us before you accept.

1. You are an independent contractor

You are not an employee, agent, partner, or joint venturer of Blik. Blik is a marketplace that introduces you to customers and handles payment; it does not supervise your work. In practice this means:

  • You set your own schedule and availability, and you can turn the app off whenever you like.
  • You are free to decline any job request, for any reason, without penalty.
  • This Agreement is non-exclusive. You may work for other platforms, businesses, or your own customers.
  • You supply your own tools, supplies, equipment, and vehicle.
  • You may not subcontract or hand a Blik job to someone else unless the customer has agreed in the app chat first, and you remain responsible for the work either way.
  • You are responsible for your own income tax, CPP contributions, HST/GST collection and remittance where applicable, WSIB coverage where the law requires it, and your own insurance.

Nothing in this Agreement gives Blik the right to control how you perform a job beyond the customer-facing standards in section 7.

2. Services and pricing

Blik publishes a catalog of services with flat, upfront prices. You choose which catalog services you offer. When you accept a job, you agree to perform that service, as described in the catalog and the booking, at the listed price in effect when the customer booked. You may not ask the customer for more money for the same scope. If the job turns out to be materially different from what was booked, say so in the app chat before starting so the customer can cancel or re-book the right service.

3. Fees and payouts

  • Nothing to join. Blik does not charge an application, subscription, or listing fee.
  • Service fee. Blik keeps a service fee of 15% of the booking price on each completed job; you receive the remaining 85%. The fee is shown on every request before you accept it. Blik may change the rate with 14 days’ notice; the change never applies to jobs you have already accepted.
  • How you get paid. Payouts are made through Stripe Connect to the bank account you connect. Blik releases your payout after the customer confirms the work in the app, or automatically 72 hours after you mark the job complete if the customer does not respond. Stripe’s own transfer times then apply.
  • Payout setup. You must complete Stripe’s identity and banking checks before Blik can pay you. Blik never sees your full banking details.

4. Insurance is mandatory

Every Bliker must carry commercial general liability insurance of at least $2,000,000 per occurrence that covers the services you offer on Blik.

  • You must upload a valid certificate of insurance showing the coverage and its expiry date, and Blik must approve it, before you go live.
  • Providers who were already approved on Blik before September 10, 2026 must have an approved certificate on file by October 1, 2026. From that date, providers without approved, unexpired insurance are hidden from the marketplace.
  • When a certificate expires, you are automatically removed from the marketplace until you upload and we approve a renewed one. We email you when that happens, and keep reminding you while no approved certificate is on file — but keeping track of your own renewal date is your responsibility.
  • Blik is not your insurer and does not insure customers. Your policy is what responds if something goes wrong.

5. Identity, licences, and certifications

You must submit a government-issued photo ID for review before approval and keep your legal name and contact details accurate. By offering a service you attest that you hold every licence, certification, or registration that the law requires for that work in Ontario, and you will provide proof if we ask. Compulsory trades — work that Ontario law reserves for holders of a Certificate of Qualification (for example electrical, plumbing, gas fitting, refrigeration, and similar trades) — are not permitted on Blik, even if you hold the certificate.

6. Tax information (CRA reporting)

Blik is a “reporting platform operator” under Part XX of the Income Tax Act (Canada), which implements the OECD rules for digital platforms. That law requires us to collect, verify, and report certain information about sellers to the Canada Revenue Agency each year. Before approval you must give us your:

  • legal name and date of birth;
  • residential address;
  • Social Insurance Number, or business number if you operate through a registered business; and
  • HST/GST registration status and number, if registered.

Blik encrypts your SIN at rest and uses this information only for CRA reporting, to issue you an annual statement of the amounts paid to you through Blik, and to keep the records the law requires (six years). It is never shown to customers. If you refuse to provide it, or it cannot be verified, Blik cannot approve you or must remove you from the marketplace. You are responsible for reporting your own income and remitting any tax you owe.

7. Conduct and quality

Customers book Blikers because of the standards every provider agrees to:

  • Show up on time, or update the customer in the app as soon as you know you will be late.
  • Keep all communication with the customer in the Blik app chat before and during the job.
  • Follow the job flow in the app (on the way, started, complete) and add photos or other proof of the finished work when the app asks for it.
  • Do not ask for, or accept, payment outside Blik for a Blik-originated job while the booking is open, and do not steer customers off the platform to avoid the service fee.
  • Treat customers, their homes, and their property with respect. Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or unsafe behaviour of any kind is grounds for immediate removal.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, including health and safety, privacy, and consumer-protection laws.

8. Ratings and reports

After each job the customer can rate you and leave a review. Ratings are visible to customers in the app. Customers can also report a provider; reports are reviewed by the Blik team and may lead to a request for your side of the story, a temporary pause on new requests while we review, or removal under section 9. Blik does not remove honest ratings, but will remove reviews that are abusive or clearly false.

9. Suspension and removal

  • Blik may pause your ability to receive requests, or remove you from the marketplace, if you breach this Agreement, your insurance lapses, your tax information is missing or cannot be verified, or your ratings or reports show a pattern of poor service.
  • We will always tell you the reasons in writing, by email to the address on your account.
  • For any removal or suspension longer than 24 hours we will give you at least 2 weeks’ notice, except where the reason is serious misconduct, a safety concern, fraud, a legal requirement, or missing/expired insurance or tax information — in those cases removal is immediate, and for insurance it is automatic on the expiry date (section 4).
  • You can appeal by emailing support@theblik.ca within 14 days of our notice. We will review your appeal and reply with a decision and reasons.
  • Jobs you have already accepted must still be completed or cancelled properly in the app; payouts for completed jobs are not withheld because of a suspension unless a specific job is in dispute.

10. Disputes and damage

You are responsible for damage or loss you cause while performing a job, and your liability insurance is the first place that responsibility lands. If a customer raises a problem, Blik may mediate between you and the customer, may ask both sides for photos and details, and may hold a disputed payout while it reviews the booking, as described in the Terms of Service. Blik is not the insurer, does not guarantee your work to customers, and is not a party to the contract between you and the customer. Blik’s decision on whether to release, partly release, or refund a disputed booking is final as between you and Blik; it does not limit any claim you or the customer may have against each other.

11. Data and privacy

Blik handles your personal information — including your ID, insurance certificate, and tax information — as described in the Privacy Policy. Customer information you receive through Blik (names, addresses, phone numbers, photos of their homes) may be used only to perform the booked job. You may not keep it, share it, or use it to contact customers for any other purpose.

12. Term and termination

This Agreement starts when you accept it and continues until either of us ends it. You can leave Blik at any time by emailing support or deleting your account in the app; Blik can end this Agreement at any time under section 9. Jobs you have accepted before termination must be completed or cancelled according to the rules in the app, and Blik will pay out any completed, undisputed jobs. Sections 1, 6, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.

13. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. Any dispute between you and Blik will be resolved in the courts of Ontario. There is no mandatory arbitration clause in this Agreement, and nothing in it stops you from bringing a claim in Small Claims Court.

14. Acceptance and changes

You accept this Agreement electronically by ticking the agreement box on the website or tapping “Agree” in the app. Blik records the version you accepted (this version is 2026-09-10), the date and time, the surface, and your IP address and device type, and you can request a copy of that record at any time. If we make a material change we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new version before you next go live or accept a job; if you do not accept, you can keep completing jobs you already hold but will not receive new requests until you do.
